Why we need to become more altruistic to strangers? As a Human and As a Muslim
Abstract
Helping behavior is often carried out by individuals who know each other. Whereas helping behavior should be applied to all people in need, including foreigners. The purpose of this study is to find out why individuals help others and are motivated to have an attitude of helping people they don't know. Altruism towards strangers is a voluntary action to help others without expecting anything in return. This paper discusses the factors that influence individuals to engage in altruism towards others. The study was carried out by reviewing some of the literature related to altruism. Through the study it is known that several factors influence a person to practice altruism, namely personality, individual beliefs that are born good/evil, spirituality and religiosity. Altruism has an impact on individual goodness, and by knowing the importance of helping behavior towards strangers, individuals can build self-motivation to help strangers who are not known.
